When you go to someone's house,

you feel more of a sense of intimacy than you do in a restaurant.

It's more personal.

The Mushroom Protector

Have you ever heard of the stories of the "Silent Heroes"?

Well, if you haven't an example would be something like...
Err..

Your very own school janitor!

They've always been there, greeting you with (warm) smiles every morning when they see your faces everyday, they clean the tables and chairs in your classroom and canteens so you don't get sick from the bacteria, they mop the floors and put up accurate signs because they fear you'll fall, refill the toilet papers in the washrooms so you'll never get caught in an awkward situation.(LOL)  And day in day out, most people aren't aware of this and they just let their contributions fade like whispers in the wind, indifferently.

And no one even knows what their efforts contribute to even when they're aware of the things they do, and they're okay with that, they don't seek fame or recognition, they help people but they don't wear a cape like superman, quietly, but surely..

But don't think that only janitors are the silent heroes in our day-to-day lives,i believe for each and every one of you, there's already a few.

You just have to look!

Which brings me to my this new thingamajig that i just found which is this mushroom-looking-death-machine!

I coined it a "death-machine" but its really only to mosquitoes! Which quite frankly has been becoming quite an issue where i live. By the way in case you readers didn't know i'm Singaporean and i live on the eastern side of the island, and in recent days the mosquitoes there have been just breeding like crazy, it's like their birth rate shot up 10000 times or something, and when that happens, it actually becomes a very real and dangerous problem for people.

Solely because of one thing.

DENGUE FEVER

Dengue fever is, well a disease that's mosquito-borne, in English, that just means that it's a disease that mosquitoes carry and they infect people through their sting, now of course i'm not saying every mosquito that stings carries it, but neither am i saying the chances of say 1/10 mosquitoes is rare, and when mosquitoes breed by the thousands, getting stung 10 times is not an understatement, i'm sure many of you have gotten stung by mosquitoes as well and sometimes the fear of thinking,

"WHY DO I HAVE SO MANY MOSQUITO BITES? AM I GOING TO GET DENGUE?

MOM, DO I HAVE A FEVER? I JUST GOT MANY BITES BY MOSQUITOES I NEED TO DO A BLOOD TEST ASAP"

The risk is very real and admittedly i have been through it too, and you never really know if you've been infected until you do a blood test which is if you guys didn't know, an injection that draws blood from you through a needle.

If you don't like injections, this is going to be a nightmare, believe me, I've been through countless (Blood tests).
And it's just so hard from our side, being all amateur-and-no-doctor at all to tell a normal fever, should we "coincidentally" get one, and the real dengue fever because dengue fever usually persists a week longer than the normal fever even though you've taken the standard medicine and it takes days for it to mutate or to show signs that it is truly dengue and not just another fever, but sometimes you can't actually gauge these things and you might not know when to take your child/loved ones to the doctor and you think that it's just a normal, stronger fever and completely ignore it when it's a far deadlier illness.
So what i'm trying to say from that is, not knowing is really scary..

But, as people always said and still do,

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE

Of course there are many ways to go about it, for example insect repellent. You could just unload a barrage of vapor when you sight a mosquito but the smell from insect repellents are actually really, really hazardous when prolonged, like after an hour or so and you're still sniffing it, or when you're sleeping and the smell persists and you're inhaling it the entire time you're asleep, that has some serious repercussions on your health, and i mean really, really serious.
Well i'm not talking about ALL brands of insect repellent, i'm just saying the standard ones that households use more commonly like baygon ( that's the one i'm using), there do exists repellents that are more green and safe to use/inhale ( still not for prolonged periods) that may cost significantly more, and in the long term the costs stack up to quite a sum i believe, and when it almost looks like the price of health is almost too much to maintain, i present to you....
THE MUSHROOOOOOOOOOOOOM

This nifty thing, while designed to be child-friendly, is actually a merciless mosquito killer, it doubles up as a night lamp and by using attractive LED lights when your bedroom lights are off, attracts mosquitoes toward it, and then...

THE ROTATING FANS OF DEATH HIDDEN BENEATH THE CAP OBLITERATES THE EVIL MOSQUITOES AND KEEPS YOU SAFE!

The lighting doesn't consume much battery as well and can last up to 3000 hours ( Yeah, Seriously!), and the base of the mushroom is easy to remove for cleaning as well, and i think the best part is that it blends in well with any table or decoration, but it's always your family's stalwart guardian, forever protecting them from the shadows...silently... in all it's... blooming halo?

Just like...

BATMAN?!

Well i was going to say Silent Heroes...  that'd actually make more sense but..
HE'S BATMAN.

Thanks for Reading!
